One of the hottest trends out there currently is violet lipstick. From pastel lilacs to cool berry tones to vivid bright purples, the hue is here to stay. However, finding the best hue for your skin tone can be a challenge. Purple and violet based tones are eye catching, vivid and the wrong base color in a lipstick can really turn your look from glam to circus-clown in a matter of seconds.

There are thousands of skin tones possible, but here are just a few listed with violet toned lipsticks that in my experience, look the best. If you see one that isn't listed for your tone and you love it anyway, that's alright too! Everyone's skin tone is unique and has it's own underlying tones, just like lipstick. Try out different bases and tones until you find the one that suits you best. Until then, here's a simple starter list to help you better understand violet lipsticks! Lip liners also help a great deal when blending violet lipsticks to the rest of your look. Try a deeper liner if you're wearing an intense eye, or a pink or red based liner and fade it in to your violet lipstick if you're new to the hue and want to try something a tad less vivid. You can make this pop of color work for you and almost any palette combination!
