In one of my recent posts I talked about how I managed to successfully touch up my roots at home with L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss, which was very well accepted by you and I noticed a lot of you were interested in finding out more on this topic! As I'm not a professional, but just somebody who gathered courage, or call it craziness, to experiment, I can't give any personalized advices, but if you have a similar hair color to mine, the same rules might apply to you and you'll probably get a similar result.
Next on my list of the products I wanted to try out, was this highlight kit, again by L'Oreal! I'm very happy with L'Oreal hair care products and that's why I decided to try out their box hair dyes too!
This time I picked L'Oreal Preference Glam Highlights kit in shade #02 and ... hoped for the best!
The results were actually fantastic! But since this was my first time highlighting my hair at home, I didn't feel skilled enough to apply highlights all the way up to my roots (I was afraid to get a patchy, uneven hair color!), so now I still have to touch up my roots in another go with another hair color!
It was easy to mix the products, but the application process was a bit challenging ( I guess it's because I have a very long hair, so it was hard to apply the product evenly without any assistance!).
I watched tons of youtube tutorials and even L'Oreal's instruction videos and they all made it seem very simple! I guess the second time around it'll be easier. I'm still very pleased as I didn't make any patchy areas and the overall result was refreshed highlights and more luminous hair!
In the kit you'll get the applicator brush, so there's no need to work with foil! The trick is to go very light handed, when applying the color, especially close to your roots! Then you can bring a bit more colour on the lengths and the ends. I think this kit is great for creating that ombre, balayage effect of sun kissed hair.
My hair was already pretty light, but I did add some thin streaks of highlights through the lengths and the ends and that certainly refreshed the color of my hair; almost as if I went to the hair salon but for much cheaper!
This time I managed to film a demo/process of applying highlights and I talked you through the application process, step by step!
I hope you'll find this video helpful:
I picked up this kit in shade #02, and the color developed perfectly!
Because this product contains bleach, I probably won't use it again any time soon (I'll wait for 2-3 months before using it again), because I don't want to stress out and damage my already color treated hair furthermore!
After the treatment, I applied L'Oreal's conditioner that came with the kit and some hair care oils (Macadamia healing oil spray and Kerastase K Ultime) and the result was still very beautiful, silky soft hair!
Let me know have you ever tried this L'Oreal's highlights kit and were you satisfied with the results?
