FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Juvia's Place The Saharan Palette and Gel Liner Bundle

I'm here today with my first impressions on the Juvia's Place Saharan Palette and Gel Liner Bundle! I have heard so many amazing things about Juvia's Place palettes and I've been dying to try them out! The Saharan Palette is filled with warm tones, rose golds and burgundy's which is just my jam lately so it was really calling my name! I have also been dying to try a gel eyeliner because even though I really love my Tattoo Liner from Kat Von D Beauty it dries out so quickly and I hate repurchasing it so often. The Saharan Palette and Liner Bundle seemed like a no brainer to me!

First, let's talk about the shadows. They are definitely, extremely pigmented, as you can see from the swatches. They are creamy and buttery and definitely blend out really nicely but I don't know if I think they are much better than, say, Anastasia Beverly Hills shadows. The color selections is gorgeous but I do think the palette could use one more light transition shade as well as a matte highlight shade. Maybe the shadows just have too much hype and I was expecting too much (like my mind to be blown) and it just fell a little short for me. This is not to say I wouldn't recommend this palette because I definitely would, and very highly.

They are insanely affordable and that is where the mind blowing part comes into play. How can they afford to sell such a beautiful shadow formula so inexpensively?! The catch for me is that I live in Canada and therefore, I have to deal with exhange rates, duties, and taxes making the palette much more expensive and closer to the cost of bigger brand palettes like Anastasia Beverly Hills. Bummer, right?!

Next up is the liner bundle and this is where it goes downhill for me. I just don't like them. First off, the bundle comes with 1 Brown Gel Liner, 1 Black Gel Liner and a double ended brush which is a great value. However, my Brown liner is SO dry it's unusable. It honestly just crumbles onto my face when I try to apply it and makes a huge mess. Plus, it's so hard to build up a solid pigmentation that it just looks patchy and like I've been wearing it for many, many hours and it's started to wear off. Not a good look. The black was creamier and not crumbly but again, pigmentation looked faded and worn down when applied for me. Now, this is my first experience with a gel liner so it's probably just user error (for the black, not brown - brown is a hot mess because it's dried up) but I don't reach for them at all and would definitely not repurchase personally. I have heard tons of great reviews on the liners so maybe this was just a bad batch!

Here are a couple looks I created used these products:

Long story short, I would highly recommend the palettes and shadows for sure! Maybe not if you're like me and have to cover exchange rates, duties and taxes because it does make them quite a bit more costly. But if you have friends or family who love makeup, than I would suggest placing a bulk order and that way you can split all those extra costs and shave off some money! If I'm ever in a postion to purchase them without all of these extra costs I won't hesitate to snatch up the rest of the palettes!

The liners on the other hand are a hard pass for me personally, but if they've worked for you that's amazing, I'm so happy because no one wants to spend money on products that don't work well for them! I love supporting indie brands and I think Juvia's Place is coming out with incredible shadows and an incredible price. Why wouldn't you want to support that!

The Bundle retails for $36.75 USD and can be purchased at www.juviasplace.com
