VICE4 Urban Decay's Newest Palette REVIEW + SWATCHES

So you LOVE Urban Decay like I do! Maybe you purchased the new VICE4 Palette right away, or possibly you're still considering it. I've already conducted all of the "buy and try" for you in this article, with swatches, my review and images of this new UD Palette!

Brand's Official Product Description: "Finally, the Vice sequel you’ve been waiting for. We loaded Vice4 with 20 addictively gorgeous, never-before-seen shades of our iconic Eyeshadow. This limited-edition palette even includes a huge mirror, a double-ended brush and a coordinating bag. And unlike most sequels, Vice4 will keep you hooked and coming back for more.

We channeled all the darkly gorgeous, dimensional hues of an oil slick (inspired by our vintage shade name Oil Slick) into a palette filled with rich, deep jewel tones. Vice4 features a stunning array of colors and a wide range of finishes, from buttery-smooth mattes and shimmering metallics to shades laced with micro-glitter. Every shade features our Pigment Infusion System™, a proprietary blend of ingredients for rich, velvety, blendable color that lasts (and sparkle that doesn’t fall).

Vice4 comes in an extra slim case topped with a dimensional web of broken-down facets layered over a matte black lid. Rich, metallic inks give the case a mesmerizing, oil-slick effect and hint at the shades inside. Use the coordinating bag to keep Vice4 protected (and to keep prying eyes out of your prized palette), or use it to stash your brushes and other makeup essentials. Also included along with the palette: a double-ended Shadow and Crease Brush."

My Personal Product Description: One of Urban Decay's brighter palettes within the past couple of years. Unique metallic, matte and toned shades that can be easily complemented with one another for a subtle glam look or mixed and matched for a wilder appeal. Versatile, with some bright pigments yet still subdued in a way that makes this palette usable everyday. Reminiscent of a grunge look inspired palette in my opinion. Comes with a super soft, amazing blending brush that has an airbrush blender on one side and a smudge blender on the other.

Packaging: This product comes in cute metallic and black zippered fabric bag. Upon opening the bag you'll pull of the metal palette, which matches the bag and is also black with a metallic design. The palette clicks up and opens, revealing a large mirror, 20 shades, and a double ended brush. The palette is very strong, sturdy and was made in a fashion that really protects the shadows. The bag is also great because you can store the palette in it, or other brushes or items. Loved the design, and of course, the free brush. 5/5

Price:
This palette includes a brush, 20 eyeshadow shades, a bag, and a flip mirror. It will run you about $60.00 although I've seen it on sale now in various places for about $30.00. You get a good deal of product in this palette along with the brush, I thought it was a pretty fair deal. 4/5

Accessibility:
Urban Decay is everywhere now! You can buy this palette online, at Sephora, Ulta and many, many other cosmetic stores. Very easy to find. 5/5

Smell:
This palette has no smell. Great for people with fragrance allergies, or concerns. 5/5

Product Texture and Pigment:
This is a powdered eyeshadow palette. The powder is very smooth and blendable, however I was sort of unsatisfied with the pigments when applied. I expected them to be very true to tone, and vivid, however they seemed muted to me. Some of the glitters DID fall, unlike the palette claims, and got everywhere which was annoying. I was pretty disappointed, until I dipped the brush it comes with ( which is fabulous ) in a bit of water. Adding this tiny bit of water made this palette ultra pigmented, and the shades looked so much better when applied. They also didn't fall out as much. Without water I wasn't that impressed, but with it I liked what I saw though I wasn't in love with this palette. I was just hoping for something a bit more vivid. These shades would be great though if you wanted a fun look but also a subdued look simultaneously since the shades don't go on super intensely. 4/5

Special Features of this Product: Of course, the brush in this is a gem. This brush is a favorite of mine now and I honestly liked the brush better than I liked the shades featured in the palette!! The bag was also a great accompaniment. This palette is pretty unique in its shade range as well, it's not BRIGHT but also not natural/nude. It's very grungy, very much a muted metallic palette range, which is different.

Travel Size: Yes, it is travel size.

Can you use for everyday Use?: Yes, this palette can be very variable due to its ability to be used with or without water. The shades are much more muted when applied than they look in my opinion so you can wear this palette to most functions. Add water to your brush to make the shades more intense.

Tips and Tricks with this product: Apply an eyeshadow primer before applying these shades to increase how pigmented the shades appear!

Overall Review: If you're looking for a unique palette, this Vice4 UD palette is just that. Muted, original metallics will give your look a soft, grungy appearance or a more 80's neon glow depending on how you use it. It's very different from their standard choice of shades, however I was disappointed with how they appear when you use the shadows without any help of primer or water. Without something, they don't show up as bright as they look in the palette at all. With water or primer though, they're truer to their tone. I probably won't but this palette again, but I really liked how different it was at the same time. The jewel tones were a neat change. 4/5
