We know that vertical stripes offer an elongating silhouette but we've seen a lot of horizontal stripes as well this season and contrary to the old myth that horizontal stripes aren't flattering, you can totally wear them if done correctly.

The secret to wearing stripes is finding structured garments that fit your body type. If you have narrow shoulders or a straight figure and are looking for more curves, try thick horizontal stripes! They give the illusion of a more voluptuous silhouette. Also try looking for pieces that have different stripes in different directions such as diagonal and horizontal or vertical. This will break up the look and won't make your figure fall flat as it might if they're were all in one direction. Diagonal stripes look amazing and give the illusion of a more slender figure.
