Product Review: Philosophy Hope In A Jar: Night Cream

Hey all!

Today I'll be reviewing Philosophy Hope In A Jar: Night Cream!

I'm obsessed with creams and serums, and this brand seems to be quite popular so I was excited to see how I felt about it.

Product Review: Philosophy Hope In A Jar: Night Cream
Here's the manufacturer's description:  An intensive retexturizing moisturizer that repairs skin overnight for a beautiful, well-rested appearance.Wake to more radiant, refreshed skin with this night version of Philosophy’s much-loved Hope In A Jar moisturizer. The gentle formula supports nighttime renewal to retexturize skin, as it plumps the appearance of fine lines and evens skintone. Patented qusomes help deliver potent glycolic acid to the skin, while gradual-release technology minimizes the potential for irritation. With regular use, skin becomes noticeably smoother, lines are visibly softened, and your rosy glow is restored. Based on once-daily use, a clinical and consumer study of 48 participants reported: - 92% felt softer, comfortably hydrated skin overnight
- 90% showed significant improvement in the appearance of fine lines after 2 weeks of use

Ingredients: Water, Isononyl Isononanoate, Propanediol, Glycolic Acid, Cetyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Arachidyl Alcohol, Peg-12 Glyceryl Dimyristate, Squalane, Behenyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Peg-100 Stearate, Arginine, Beta-Glucan, Allantoin, Gluconolactone, Sodium Pca, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/Vp Copolymer, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Hydroxide, Polysorbate 60, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Arachidyl Glucoside, Sodium Sulfite, Bisabolol, Sodium Metabisulfite, Calcium Gluconate, Fragrance, Chlorphenesin, Disodium Edta, Xanthan Gum, Farnesol, Linalool, Phenoxyethanol.

Usage: Philosophy Hope In A a Jar Night Cream is basically a very light glycolic peel treatment, that moisturizes and retexturizes the skin overnight. I have some fine lines I loathe, and purchased this to see if it lived up to its description. You apply this cream to cleanses skin at night, and rub in well. Don't use it around your eyes, since the chemicals in this can be strong, I'd keep it away from any sensitive areas. When you wake up, you made see a little irratation, which can be normal from a retextrizing product. If you see major irritation, quit using it, or use it every other night. Glycolic Acid is meant to basically lightly rip up the skin, so that new skin can form - making it repair itself. The product doesn't hurt at all, but is meant to spur skin self repair. Use ONLY at night, and use alone, don't mix this with other products.

Packaging: This comes in a cardboard box, which opens of course to present the plastic jar with the product. It's a simple screw on, screw off lid. Very secure, easy to open.

Color: The color of this product is a milky, off white. Which doesn't really matter for this product in particular, but you can see easily where you've placed it and can notice when you've rubbed it in enough.

Smell: This product is a light chemical peel in cream form,  so it smells like chemicals. I can see the smell being something some people would hate. I didn't find it annoying, but it doesn't smell floral, yet there is definitely a smell present. One I rubbed it in, I didn't notice anything. I expected this from a product like this, but some people may not.

Texture:
Very thick and creamy, which makes sense since you are using this as a night cream and not an underneath the makeup product. Easy to apply, easy to rub in. No weird film or flaking. Melts into the skin.

Effectiveness:
What a pleasant surprise! I've used creams and serums galore, and this is a favorite. When you apply it, you can really feel it working. It doesn't hurt, but you can tell the chemicals are interacting with the skin. I put it on my problem areas, woke up, and was surprised to see those areas were nowhere near as visible. My skin had a nice glow to it. I would recommend this to anything looking for a serious retexturizing cream, and doesn't mind the chemical properties. Very effective. I can see how this would be a miracle worker over time!

Can you use this on film?: I actually wouldn't take your chances on using this on actors or actresses as an overnight cream for them. Uusually they have their own regime, and I wouldn't want to take the chance of this reacting badly with someone's skin, and then having to deal with fixing that in the morning.

Can you use this for everyday wear?:
EveryNIGHT wear, yes! This is not an under cosmetic product. Use it at night on clean skin, and if it irritates you really badly ( peeling, redness ), discontinue use or try every other night.

My Final Review: I saw instant results and fell in love with this product immediately! Easy to use, quick results, no weird flaking or skin issues here.

RATING: 5/5
