ORLY Nail Polish in "You're Blushing"

Hello everyone! This is my review on the nail polish shade "You're Blushing" by the brand ORLY, part of their Cool Romance Collection.

This is my first time trying this brand of nail polish. I was looking for something natural yet unique, eye catching yet not sparkly or iridescent. I also didn't want something matte or sand.

As I was searching through the thousands of nail polish tones available, this was the only semi-natural one that caught my eye. I really loved it's subtle lavender undertones and hoped that it looked as fun ON as it did in the bottle. Nothing is as disheartening as when you purchase a polish, put it on and zing - it looks nothing like it does in the bottle.

Well, I'm here to tell you this polish actually looks exactly like it does in the bottle, but before I get into detail, I'll present you with the manufacturer's description of this polish.

Manufacturer's Description:Cool Romance Collection. Natural pearl for shine and durability. It has a streak free coverage and is fast drying. UV inhibitors prevent fading. Pale Purple Crème. This color is sure to bring a little more color to anyone's cheeks. This light purple is beautiful and elegant and will make your nails dazzling and really give them that wow factor you want.

( LOTS of stuff in there right ahaha )

Affordability and Size: Not as CHEAP as a polish can come, but definitely not breaking the bank here. The store where I purchased this polish had a sale for buy one get one free, so I got two polishes for $6. It definitely trumps a $3 or $1 polish though, as it dried very quickly and looked just like the tone in the bottle. Very smooth finish, absolutely worth the 6 bucks I spent on two of them. This bottle comes in a 0.6 oz bottle.

Packaging:
This polish has no exterior packaging like most other single nail polishes. It  does however have a really nice squishy grip in the handle that most polishes do not include. Makes application that much easier. The glass design of the polish is very sturdy and doesn't topple when you sit it on a flat service. The application brush is sturdy and glides over the nail with precision. I couldn't really ask for anything more from a polish.

Color: This unique shade of pale, lovely purple is a cool toned neutral that looks beautiful in winter or on any natural palette. It really gave my nails a very vintagey feel. I could definitely see a bride wearing this, or someone wearing a neutral or white outfit. This  tone is a step up from a pastel purple, but close. I really liked that, seeing as I wanted something eye catching but not dramatically glittery. I didn't want something that would look like a brown or taupe or off pink, and this was exactly what I wanted. A softly off, cool purple that wasn't too grey, too pink or too brown. Very unique and flattering, I would say on any skin tone, and looks exactly like it does in the bottle! I was very impressed with just how much it looked like the bottle tone since pastels can be known to be dull or flat compared to their swatches.

Consistency:
With most pastels, you're dealing with soft color. One application didn't seem like enough, and I was afraid the color would be too translucent for my liking but after two solid coats it looked just like the bottle tone. It laid smooth and didn't drip or really roll off of my finger on application, and dried pretty quickly and smoothly. Not runny or watery, and not too thick or hard to apply either. Great!

Film wear ability:
Absolutely, you could easily apply this to a model, or actress for a production with no worries. This color would not affect a film camera, look obvious, too shiny, streaky, too obvious or glitchy on video. It is very complimentary yet fashionable, a step up from just a bare neutral polish and would definitely be appropriate for most characters. Perfect for a winter or spring fashion show.

Everyday wear ability:
Absolutely, easily complimented by an array of outfit pairings or just jeans and t-shirt. This polish could be casual, work appropriate or even cute for a night out. It's tone lends it a unique and trendy yet strangely natural appearance that is far from boring yet not overly dramatic.

My review:
As a fine artist I can be very picking with coloration. This nail polish was pretty impressive to me. As a natural pastel it exceeded my expectations, was very easy to apply precisely, dried quickly, looked like the bottle tone, and on top of it all was affordable, and very different from most other off-nude tones I found. It did not go on too pink or too brown, and was delightfully the exact shade of pale lavender I had hoped for! No streaking or dullness. Just the right amount of color for someone looking for a natural-esc shade with a little bit of a pop! Romantic and fit for spring and winter for sure. I give it 5 stars, love love love!
