Q: What does makeup/beauty/fashion mean to you?
A: Makeup, beauty and fashion are all forms of expression. I like to experiment with my makeup looks and tend to be a bit more daring and take risk with my fashion. It took me a while to find what really worked for me but when I did, it made me feel that much more confident. When you are dressed nice and look nice, you tend to feel nice.
Q: When did you start getting into makeup/beauty/fashion?
A: I've always had a love for fashion but got more into when I was about 17. I started getting into makeup/beauty when I was about 18.
Q: Why did you involved in makeup?
A: When I graduated from high school, I was looking to do something part time until I started college. One of my best friend's moms introduced to her friend that sold MaryKay. I instantly feel in love with the line and started using it on myself. I have very sensitive skin and loved how their products worked on me. Then I started selling the products and really got into the brand. I really enjoyed going to women's homes and giving them makeover and making them beautiful one eyeshadow and lipstick at a time.
Q: What's your 1st ever beauty product?
A: Smacks flavored lip gloss.
Q: What's your favorite makeup brand and why?
A: NARS is favorite makeup brand. Their products are long wearing and they have a wide variety of options for all skins tones.
Q: Name the one makeup product you cannot live without and why?
A: I can't live without concealer. Not only does it help to hide blemishes and imperfections (i.e. dark circles) but you can use to highlight your face to give you an overall a great looking appearance.
Q: What's your best makeup tip?
A: Blending is key to any makeup look. From your foundation to your eyeshadow to your blush/contour, you want to make sure that everything is blended very well. Not only does blending get rid of the harsh lines but it also make you face look as flawless as possible.
Q: What's the one thing your viewers don't know about you?
A: That I use to be a tomboy when I was younger. I love playing sports and fixing cars. Doing my makeup was only for special occasions and not for everyday use:).
Q: Do you have any special/hidden talents?
A: I like to get down and dirty doing a lot of my own diy projects. I love a challenge and I take pride in putting things together.
Q: Why/When did you start posting videos/blog?
A: I graduated from college with my degree in Broadcast Journalism because I always wanted to be a News Reporter. At the time that I completed my degree, positions in my field weren't readily available. Since I had an itch to write/edit, I wanted to find a creative outlook that will allow me to get my juice following and that is when I turned to Youtube and Blogging. My friends and family encouraged me to start and that is how Kikistyles101 was formed. I uploaded my first video on YouTube and wrote an accompanying blog post in October of 2011.
Q: Who's your biggest (beauty/fashion) inspiration (YouTuber/blogger/MUA, etc.) and why?
A: My biggest YouTube inspiration is MakeupbyTiffanyD. She was the first person I subscribed to because I loved her unbiased opinion on makeup products. She also taught me a lot in terms of how to applying makeup and how to find products that worked great for my skin tone.
Q: What is one skin care item that you can live without?
A: I can't live without my Cetaphil/Purpose face wash. I have very sensitive skin and those two face washes work very well for me. Not only do they help to remove makeup residue but they help to clean out my pores without irritation.
Q: What is one skincare tip you would like to share?
A: After you washed your face, take an ice cube and apply it all over. This step will help to close your pores after they've been opened. What are the benefits of ice? Ice helps to improve blood circulation, minimize the appearance of large pores and keeps your skin oil-free for a long time.
Q: What other forms of creativity to you have?
A: I love to expression myself through my nails with nails designs.
Q: Best beauty advice?
A: Makeup is meant to enhance your beauty and it's all about finding what works for you. This won't happen overnight but will happen through time and practice.
