Wedding Palettes & Wedding Makeup Tips for Every Bride!

Are you a bride to be stressing out over her skincare regime or makeup for the big day? Never fear! I'm a bridal MUA professional and also engaged so I'm here to sympathize with your stress and give you some lifesaving tricks for your wedding look!

Some quick tips before I get to the palettes....

1.) Never get a facial two-three weeks before your wedding.
So many brides do themselves a disservice by pampering their skin with a facial two-three weeks or so before their big day. Why is this a problem? You would think that it would do the opposite, and give you glowing skin and it does, eventually. However, usually after a recent facial regime whether it's a peel or a mask, your skin will either break out badly, peel ( with a facial peel such as a glycolic peel, citrus peel etc. ), get very red or just appear straight up stressed out. The focus of a facial is to exfoliate, purge or strip the skin in a healthy way while depositing moisturizing anti aging or mattifying agents in order to clean, cleanse and peel back the first/older/damaged layer of skin on the face. This definitely will give you a glowing, younger looking, clear compexion after the period of a few weeks when your skin has recovered from it's facial "workout". However, many brides do this a DAY or week before their wedding! This leaves your makeup artist OR yourself in a predicament due to your skin's momentary lapse of breakout, or peeling/redness due to the chemicals in your facial. Save yourself the stress of a potential skin disaster and have a facial a SAFE month before your date for the best results.

2.) Airbrush is overrated, terrible on the skin and overpriced!
Many brides come to me asking specifically for airbrush makeup and I cringe, cringe, cringe! Most airbrush cosmetics are mixed with a liquifying agent in order to push them through the airbrush consistently without chunking up, or clogging. This liquifying agent is usually alcohol or silicone, which are both terrible for your skin, horrible for long wear throughout the day and a disaster for anyone with wrinkling or acne. Any makeup artist capable of using an "airbrush" brush can make give you an identical airbrushed look WITHOUT the nasty chemicals needed in airbrush foundations, without the horrible lasting quality of the airbrush foundations, without their nasty tendency to set in wrinkles/imperfections AND without the nasty chemicals that you end up breathing in. Ask your makeup artist to use, or purchase a "finishing" or 'airbrush' brush to apply your foundation with. Bh Cosmetic's Round Stippling Brush ( for $6! ) is a great example . Almost every brand from E.L.F to MAC carries a decent "airbrush" stippling round brush that will give you a flawless finish sure to last!

3.) Always get a cosmetic trial makeup run if you aren't doing your makeup yourself BEFORE the wedding!
It's well worth any cost to make sure you love your look before you walk down the isle. Your makeup artist will want to get to know your skin, and you'll want to try out some different techniques most likely! Bring photos of looks you love, and discuss your worries for the big day concerning your skin, and your hopes. If you're using a makeup artist he or she will appreciate it! If you're doing your makeup yourself it's still a great idea to practice a couple of times so you don't stress out during the day of.

4.) GOOD QUALITY HD MAKEUP is worth the price: Stay away from Non-Professional Products!
Professional Products and HD products are made for two thing: Film and Photography. During your big day there may be a lot of that and if you use a non-professional, 100% silica, HEAVY spf,  Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide product or foundation heavy in metallics you could suffer from a term we MUA's call the dreaded 'FLASHBACK" which makes you appear as if you have a load of baby powder all over your face! Beginning MUA's and home DIYer's often make this mistake unknowingly, which can't really be undone once you look like a baby powder victim in all of your photos! Here is a list of powder and HD products that do NOT cause flash back.
Make Up Forever Mat Velvet, Revlon Colorstay Whipped Cream Makeup, Ben Nye banana powder, Too Faced Pressed Powder, Ben Nye HD Powder, Revlon Photoready Powder, MAC Full Cover Foundation, Duo Matte powder Foundation, Studio Fix Fluid by Mac, Maybelline Dream Liquid Airbrush Finish, Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse Foundation, Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation, Este Lauder Invisible Fluid Makeup, Coty Airspun extra coverage
