Simple and quick way to lighten hair, when dying it bright color or to remove the stains those colors leave

If you have used dye in your hair in the past and want to lighten your hair I suggest a soap cap it's what I use to lighten and open up my cuticle so my hair can take the color. However, if your hair is light brown or blonde you may want to try this.

FOR LIGHT BLONDE – LIGHT BROWN HAIR:

Try to wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo and hot/warm water before trying to color it and don't condition and then towel dry and get as much water out of your hair with out using heat. Heat will close your cuticle and you need it as open as possible. Apply unmixed color to hair leave for about 5-6 minute then apply color with peroxide as normal leave for at least an hour and rinse with cold water until water runs clear. Then follow with sulfate free conditioner with a few capfuls of apple cider vinegar mixed in to close your cuticle and add shine. However, if your hair is darker or has been dyed previously, you’d want to try the soap cap.

SOAP CAP:

For a soap cap you will need to mix the following:

  • 1 pump of conditioner: sulfate free and without any types of silicone (check the ingredients, it’s most likely in the silicone family if the word ends with ‘cone’)
  • 2 pumps of clarifying or volumizing shampoo
  • Chemical lightener (bleach or color remover)
  • 1 ounce or so of 20 - 30(for darker hair) volume developer depending on how much hair you have.

Instructions:

You want to FIRST wet the hair, starting at the ends (of overly colored) start applying the mixture. Wait about 5 minutes and run through almost to the root area. Then, apply a processing cap and wait for the color to lift about 2-3 levels basically to lighten up a bit.  Add the new color then rinse well and wash with clarifying shampoo. Towel dry. Apply color and leave on for about 45-60 minutes. When rinsing out the color, do not shampoo and just rinse with cold water. Follow with a sulfate free conditioner and an apple cider vinegar mixture. Leave in for a 5 minutes and rinse with cold water and you are done.

If you need to correct the color you do the same method only allow the color to lift to one level ABOVE the desired shade, (that takes about 5 minutes). This allows you to re-deposit tone and levels back into the hair evenly. When using this method, you should use an acid based conditioner after the process to stop activation completely. A good sulfate free conditioner with a few capfuls of apple cider vinegar work perfectly.  Once you finish the process and re-color the hair, rinse well (do not shampoo hair for 2 days to allow the color to settle. (A little conditioner is okay).

I hope this information is helpful to you lovelies that have wanted to dye or lighten your hair but are scared to because of fear of damaging it. This is the safest and healthiest way to do so that I have found.
