Drugstore and retail store eyeshadow palettes can be hit or miss. Some aren't as pigmented as these look, some don't blend. Some are almost as expensive as name brands yet work as if they were $1! Some are close to $1 and work almost like name brands. Decisions can quickly go very wrong or very right. But in the end, no one wants to waste their money on a palette that doesn't deliver.

Physicians Formula is a drugsture brand I've trusted on set and off for over five years. I decided to try out their Shimmer Strips, Custom Eye Enhancing Eye Shadow - Nude Palette, simply named "Nude". I'm a huge fan of the Urban Decay Naked Palettes, and I wondered if this ( about ) $9.59 palette could compare.

Today I'll be reviewing this palette inside and out and comparing it to Urban Decay's Naked shadow palette line. Many beauty bloggers have named this Physicians Formula palette as a perfect dupe for the UD Naked line. I'll give you my insight and how I thought it lined up!

Official Brand Product Description: Get the Nude Look for ANY Eye Color! Naked and neutral, yet "never boring" shades create modern Nude Eyes. Wet & Dry application for two finishes: wet for dramatic, intense color with ultra long-lasting wear. Transforms shadow into a liner. Dry for a softer result. Create the Nude Eye: 1. Sweep medium shade over lid as base. 2. Apply darkest shade to upper & lower lash line with pointed tip of applicator to line eyes. For added definition, apply darkest shade in the contour of upper eyelid. To intensify color, wet applicator. 3. Use lightest shade to highlight brow bone.

My Personal Product Description: The Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips, Nude palette line is affordable, good for your skin, dermatologist approved and looks beautifully natural. Good for you ingredients paired with five different color palettes allows for glowing, shimmering, and eye enhancing cosmetic looks for any occasion. Blendable, and subtle yet beautiful shades.

Ingredients: Mica, Polybutene, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Oil, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Synthetic Wax, Silica, Dimethicone, Lauroyl Lysine, Beeswax, Dimethicone/Methicone Copolymer, Ethylhexylglycerin, Kaolin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Phenoxyethanol May Contain: Carmine, Ferric Ferrocyanide, Iron Oxides, Manganese Violet, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Tin Oxide, Titanium Dioxide, Ultramarines, Blue 1 Lake, Red 40, Yellow 5 Lake

Packaging: This product comes in a plastic rectangle inside of a cardboard rectangle. You of course dispose of the outside, cardboard packaging, and are left with an easy to open palette, lined with some very cute and pretty black lace. The palette opens horizontally on the side, not where you would expect and closes magnetically, unique for a rectangular eyeshadow palette. Yet, the design is sturdy and easy to use. Also easy to slip in a purse, or store in a cabinet. It doesn't open randomly, closes securely and the eyeshadow in set deeply in the palette so if dropped it is less likely to crack or spill. It comes with a small brush, but the brush isn't very good and I honestly just threw it out, it was sort of like a glorified ear swab with plastic bristles! However, the overall packaging was nice.   4/5

Price: This product is affordable at about $9.59 a palette in most US retail outlets and drugstores. Perfect if you just want to try out nude shades with your look and are not ready to try out the more expensive $40-$60 branded eyeshadow palettes, or simply do not want to spend that kind of money of on a nude palette! You get a decent amount of shadow for how much you spend. 5/5

Accessibility: Very easy to find! From Walmart, to Target, to RiteAid, Walgreens, and CVS to of course the Physicians Formula website, these palettes are very easy to find and obtain. ( http://www.physiciansformula.com5/5

Tones/Shades: Here you see the basic Nude palette I purchased and its shades which unfortunately do not have names. This product is available in 5 different palettes. Basic Nude ( a mix of cool and warm, satin and shimmering shades ) which is what I purchased,  Classic nude  ( warm and cool shimmering shades ),  Natural nude ( which includes peach based, mostly skin toned shimmering shades. ), Smoky nude ( dramatic, deeper shimmering and satin shades ) and Warm nude ( warm based shimmering shades ). The line could've probably released a second Natural Nude palette for darker skin tones, since the only Natural Nude they offer is mostly very light shades, but other than that there is a nice variety here to choose from. Each palette features shades that enhance every eye color. 5/5

Smell: Fragrance Free! Doesn't really have a smell at all. If I try to detect anything, if MAY have a slightly chemical smell but it smells mostly like the minerals in the shadow itself. Nothing very detectable. 5/5

Blendability: This product does blend, but it really is not the quality of Urban Decay's Naked Palette in my eyes in any form. Sort of close, but not really that close. The colors look similar in the pack and when heavily applied and blended heavily but with the UD Naked palette, it's easy, simple and 1,2,3. This palette the pigments are not as strong, and take some serious heavy application and blending to get the same effect as the Urban Decay palette. I definitely did not see this as a dupe. Nice palette, yes but much more subtle in tone. I am also VERY pale, so me saying this says a lot on the pigment strength. The product does blend but I found myself really digging to get more pigment tones to do so. 3/5

Product Texture: This product texture is very nice, not heavy or flaking and the shimmer/glitter does not irritate the eyes. You can tell this was created by dermatologists, because you don't feel it at all when applied! Very silky, and smooth. Non irritating.   5/5

Product Performance: This product comes in a great package, lasts long and has a decent amount of product, is easy to access with a nice price however the pigments in my eyes do not compare to the Urban Decay Palette and are definitely no dupe. The pigments are not as strong, or blendable, or noticable and I have very pale skin so they should show up easily. However, the products are very nice, very subtle, very shimmery and pretty. If you are not a makeup person these palette would be perfect. If you want more of a heavy look I would suggest definitely using this palette with a wet brush, or you will find yourself digging in the shades to get a stronger pigment. Very silky smooth in texture, and easy to make beautiful nude looks with. However, it just can't compare the my Urban Decay unfortunately! I DO love this Physicians Formula palette though still, that being said because it is PERFECT for "bare faced" looks trending now, AND really perfect for any client or look that doesn't prefer or need much makeup, or looks that are meant to look very, very natural.  This palette is simply very sheer, unless used wet, which some people don't like to do. It is still a great asset though and I'm happy to have it in my kit. 4/5

Tips and Tricks with this product: Due to the sheer nature of this product, if you want a more dramatic look apply your favorite shades then implement a heavy black cat eye with some liquid liner to give off a natural yet glamorous look.

Overall Review: If you are looking for an Urban Decay dupe unfortunately this isn't it in my opinion! HOWEVER it is a perfect bare faced, very natural palette that works for many looks and functions, and gives you a hint of pigment and shimmer that enhances the eyes. Doesn't irritate the eyes, comes in a functioning and well packaged palette, is affordable, easy to find and comes in an array of shade choices. It just wasn't as pigmented as I had hoped, but I do love it for natural looks and bare faced looks!! Overall: 4/5
