Skin issues. No matter the makeup quality, if your skincare regime is lacking so will the effectiveness of your cosmetics, no matter the brand. So, I decided to add a sleeping mask to my regime. I wanted something with the powerful antioxidant benefits of vitamin C, yet something that would do a bit of everything from brightening, to smoothing, evening out skintone, improving wrinkles and improving my skin texture in general.
I decided to try out the Peter Thomas Roth Camu Camu Vitamin C Brightening Sleeping Mask. Peter Thomas Roth skincare is clinical strength skincare, so I was hoping to see some results. This is my review after using it for about three months.
Official Peter Thomas Roth Camu Camu Vitamin C Brightening Sleeping Mask Brand Product Description:
"An intensive nighttime treatment that not only brightens but moisturizes skin while you sleep. Treat while you sleep—wake up with the appearance of brighter, more moisturized skin. This must-have Sleeping Mask contains camu camu berry, a potent superfruit that has 30 times the vitamin C of an orange and powerful absorption properties."
My Personal Description: This is a multi-tasking night mask formulated to give intense results all while you sleep! It's infused with 30x the vitamin C vs other products of its kind, making it high in antioxidants. It's meant to improve collagen, brighten the skin, smooth skin, firm skin, improve the appearance of uneven skin tone an improve fine lines and wrinkles.
Ingredients: Camu Camu Berry: Potent superfruit from the Amazon; provides 30 times more vitamin C per ounce than an average orange. Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Myrciaria Dubia Fruit Extract, Glyceryl Stearate, Peg-100 Stearate, Tridecyl Stearate, Neopentyl Glycol Dicaprylate/ Dicaprate, Arbutin, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Diphenylsiloxy Phenyl Trimethicone, Alcohol Denat., Stearic Acid, Dimethicone, Myristyl Alcohol, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Sodium Hyaluronate, Soluble Collagen, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Panthenol, Sodium Pca, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Allantoin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Squalane, Cyclopentasiloxane, Sarcosine, Bht, Potassium Aspartate, Magnesium Aspartate, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Propylene Glycol, Laureth-4, Polysorbate-20, Polysilicone-11, Tridecyl Trimellitate, Triethanolamine, Carbomer, Sodium Cocoyl Amino Acids, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose Stearoxy Ether, Sodium Methyl Stearoyl Taurate, Silica, Benzoic Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Mica, Fragrance.
Packaging: This night mask comes in a pump tube, which is so much better than your typical packet, bottle or lotion packaging for a mask. It ensures that you don't squeeze too much out by making it easy to control how much product you need. The product is a sturdy, plastic design. Doesn't tip over, or leak and is easy to open. This package is also not deceptive and you can tell exactly how much product comes in the tube. 5/5
Price: I purchased mine at wholesale, professional, .41oz sample prize at about $10.00, but this product is widely only available at the 3.4oz size which is $62.00. This is fairly normal for a mask of this quality, although it is hard to drop $60 on a mask product. However, you are getting quality ingredients, some seriously intense vitamin C ( which is amazing for skin ), so I guess that mostly justifies the price. 4/5
Accessibility: You can purchase Peter Thomas Roth Camu Camu Vitamin C Brightening Sleeping Mask at most beauty supply stores and online. From Sephora.com, to www.ulta.com this cream is easy to find and purchase. 5/5
Smell: This mask smells like, surprise, citrus! It does have an orangey smell to it which is fairly notable, however I enjoyed it. I didn't think it was irritating. 5/5
Texture and Feel: This mask is very silky, smooth, moisturizing and non greasy. It melts easily into the skin and doesn't make the skin feel heavy. It IS a mask however, and can leave a bit of a light orange film on the skin in the morning, so you'll need to clean your skin in the AM. 5/5
Pigment: This mask has a pastel yellow/orangey tone to it. Nothing strange here since there's some serious vitamin C in it. 5/5
Wearability: This mask was easy to wear and for the most part undetectable at night, however it does have a very slight tingle on the skin. Some people may be initiated by this tingle, but I mostly expected it due to the heavy vitamin C content. It doesn't burn, but does have a slight prickling feel which is almost unnoticeable, but still there. It did not irritate my skin, and did not bother me. 5/5
Special Features: This mask has some of the highest content of Vitamin C in it versus products of its kind on the market!
Travel Size: YES, it does come in a .41 oz size which is the one I purchased, but it can be difficult to find.
Can you use this everyday?: You could but the suggested use is 2-3 times a week.
Tip and Tricks: Apply a layer of the mask at night after your serum and moisturizer two to three times per week.
Overall Review and Effectiveness: I do think I saw results with this mask. I enjoyed applying it, its feel and texture and even the slight tingle it has. The smell was sort of interesting but expected. I believe it left my skin if anything noticeably more glowing in the morning. My skin texture was visibly improved, especially dark spots and some acne scar areas. This product did not irritate my sensitive skin yet was effective for my combination skin areas. No breakouts or acne due to it, just improved appearance of my skin. I would repurchase this! 5/5!
