Todays review is with my experience with Hot Yoga. I reside in Albuquerque, NM, and I went to Bikram Albuquerque.
It was a 90 minute class. You do yoga in a rooms where the temperature is above 99 degrees!! HOLY HOTNESS!! You are dripping sweat within the first 5 minutes. The instructor has you do each pose 2 times. Being my first time, these poses were a bit rough for me. LOL!! I almost fell on my face several times trying to balance on one foot holding these poses! I think after a few more classes I will get the hang of it and have better balance and posture. The heat can be pretty uncomfortable, but I got use to it and survived my first class. I was happy when class was over. I was drenched in sweat and was so, so hot!!! But I really liked the class!! I felt great afterwards. I will be back!!
Tips for hot yoga:
1. Drink lots of water before you go and take lots of water to drink during the class.. LOTS of water!!
2. Do not eat a couple hours before hand, you might feel sick during the class if you eat too close to the class.
3. If you have fun colored hair like me, pull it all the way back out of your face. I left my hair down in my face and from the sweat when I put my head on my towel the purple from my hair bled to my towel.
4. If you go with your BFF, you might want to be on opposite side of the room. There is no talking allowed. It's a very peaceful environment. We had a hard time keeping quiet!! But we did it!!!
