Halloween look: Zero from 'Nightmare Before Christmas' Makeup Tutorial

Hi!!

I finally got my first Halloween look done this year!! For some reason I haven't come up with that many ideas even though I've been thinking about all the cool stuff I would do around Halloween all year long. Maybe that's because pretty much all my looks could be worn on Halloween :D

I thought I'd start with something I personally really like: Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas. I've done a look of Jack so I thought I'd do Zero (his dog). I'm apparently really into doing these characters nowdays haha :D

Hope you guys like this one!!

The Tutorial:

First fill in the brows. I used LunatiCK Labs eyeshadow Wednesday Addams over their white prime time primer. I usually do my brows after doing the artsy stuff but I really wanted to fit everything under the brow this time so i kind of "framed" the makeup so I wouldn't go over the brow.

Start with the base eyeshadows. I used the same LunatiCK Labs primer again for this. On the lid I used Sugarpill Royal Sugar & Tiara and LunatiCK Labs Jinx. I also did the moon there with Sugarpill Buttercupcake.

Continue the winged shape with a dark purple like Sugarpill Poison Plum.

Fill in the whole area with some lilac/purple shades. I used Sugarpill Hysteric & Masquerade Cosmetics shimmer powder 26. I also blended the yellow moon in with white eyeshadow so it wouldn't be a yellow blob in the middle of everything. I used Sugarpill Tako.

Start to sketch Zero's head with white Ben Nye aqua paint. This is just a guideline, it doesn't have to be very specific.

Apply some shadows on Zeros face with Masquerade Cosmetics black cream colour. This is still kind of sketching, just place a bit of black where you'd like to add shadow.

Add black eyeliner on the outer lines of Zeros head like in the pic. The head will be shaded & modified a thousand times but this will help you with the defining. I used Golden Rose liquid liner. For Zero's nose, I used Masquerade Cosmetics eyeliner activator with Concrete Minerals risque and Ben Nye white aqua color to create the white glow.

Sketch Zero's "body." Not sure what to call it, since he's a ghost, I think it's a sheet. I used Ben Nye white aqua colour.

Define & create the shading on Zero's "body." I used Ben Nye white aqua paint again with Masquerade Cosmetics black cream colour.

Set the black cream colour you've put everywhere with black eyeshadow. I used Lime Crime lotus noir. You can do some more shading while you're at it with the black eyeshadow.

Start to define the moon. I put some black dots on it with black eyeshadow and created some brighter yellow "circles" around the dots with Lime Crime citreuse uniliner. I also defined the entire moon shape with yellow from Mehron paradise palette and Sugarpill Buttercupcake on top of it. I also shaded around the "craters" on the moon with black eyeshadow (Lime Crime lotus noir again).

I decided to put a tombstone in the corner. I created the outlines with Golden Rose liquid liner, filled the area with grey from Mehron paradise palette and did some shading with black eyeshadow.

After drawing a crack on the tombstone with Golden Rose liquid liner, I started to sketch the clouds. I used Sugarpill Poison Plum with Masquerade Cosmetics eyeliner activator.

Blend white Masquerade Cosmetics cream colour in with the purple cloud stuff you just added. Then set with Sugarpill Tako & Poison Plum eyeshadows. Add some black eyeliner on the craters of the moon and start to create yellow dots (they're supposed to be stars!!) with Lime Crime citreuse uniliner :).

I also added just a little bit of baby blue eyeshadow on Zero to give him some glow. I used Lime Crime parasol.

Add eyeshadow on your lower lashline. I used LunatiCK Labs Wednesday Adams and Sugarpill Royal Sugar & Afterparty. I also put some Masquerade Cosmetics glitter 33 on the inner corner of my eye.

Add eyeliner. I used Golden Rose liquid liner again.

Add some yellow eyeshadow/ pen on your waterline. I used Sugarpill buttercupcake. Then I put on Masquerade Cosmetics black mascara and put some Lime Crime citreuse uniliner on top of it on my lower lashes.

Finally, apply some more black & white shading if you feel like some places need it and apply lashes, I used Sugarpill Angel Baby lashes for this one :)

Then you're all done!!
