Are you ready for 2016? I know I am! Paint your lids a shimmering gold with a contrasting matte black in this tutorial to give your look a bit of fun mysticism during this new years eve bash! Everyone will be sporting glitter, metallics and intense shades but this look incorporates a smokey eye in order to compliment your entire look! So, wear your most sequined ensemble - this look won't over or underdo it!

YOU WILL NEED:

• Makeup Forever Eyeshadow in Gold Nugget (about $21.00)
• Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Blackout - Matte Black (about $19.00)
• Kat Von D Tattoo Liquid Eyeliner in Trooper Black ( about $19.00)
• Nars Lipstick in Tolede pink rose ( about $27.00 )
• Urban Decay Naked Flushed Streak Blush Palette ( about $32.00)
• Benefit Shy Beam Matte Liquid Highlighter (about $26.00)
• Benefit Cosmetics They're Real Mascara in Black (about $24.00)

STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL:

1. After applying your favorite primer and liquid foundation, apply Makeup Forever Eyeshadow in Gold Nugget to the entire upper and lower eyelids. This gold is the perfect blend of shimmer and subtle glitter for New Years and a party atmosphere - PLUS it won't get in your eyes like some glitters or shimmer shades. Blend and smudge outwards. Apply heavily in the inner eye.
2. Apply a matte black shadow such as Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Blackout - Matte Black to the crease. This matte shade really gives this look its wearability, too much glitter can be tacky and no doubt, everyone will be sporting WAY too much of it on New Years. Set yourself apart! Keep the inner eye free of this shade so your gold really pops through. Blend and smudge outwards. Apply this black shade lightly to the outer corner of the bottom lashline also! Smudge!
3. Apply a clean line of black matte liner to the upper lashline in a swift sweep. I used Kat Von D Tattoo Liquid Eyeliner in Trooper Black, one of my favorites due to its precision!
4. Apply a matte subtle pink/rose shade of lipstick to the lips such as  Nars Lipstick in Tolede pink rose. This will keep the focus on your eyes, yet accentuate your lips. For dark party looks its best not to overdue it, especially on the lips since you'll most likely be drinking something. You won't have to worry about a crazy bright shade smearing all over your face!
5. Apply a light bronzer or contour shade two to three times darker than your skintone to the hollows of your cheeks and along your nose, slimming it. Blend, blend, blend! I love the Urban Decay Naked Flushed Streak Blush Palette because it comes with a highlighter, contour and blush that all coincide with each other and perfectly match. Streak matched my skin, but it also comes in a medium and dark palette for other skin tones. I used the contour shade out of this palette for my light contour. Dark contours or extreme contours look terrible in dark light usually so keep it simple. I then used the blush shade in this palette on the apples of my cheeks to further accentuate my cheeks subtly. Just the right amount of shimmer!
6. I didn't use the Urban Decay Naked Flushed highlighter that came in the palette, because I wanted a bit more metallic of a highlight where the UD Naked Flushed palette is more natural. So, instead I used Benefit Shy Beam Matte Liquid Highlighter. I swiped this on my upper cheekbones and under my brow arch to give my look a chiseled yet glowing appeal.
7. Last but not least, I applied Benefit Cosmetics They're Real Mascara in Black to my lashes. Natural, yet vavoom! You're done!

TIP: Set this look with a cosmetic setting spray for all night party wear "insurance!" I LOVE Makeup Forever's setting spray!
