Easy Hair Styling Product For Boho Waves | DIY Leave In Conditioner | Natural Curly Hair Remedy

So I've always had naturally thick, curly and course hair, all my life. I've used about every single hair product from gel to mousse and leave-in-conditioner to style and tame down my hair. This includes both drugstore and salon quality hair products.  In more recent years, I've really been conscious of the hair and skin products I use and try to keep them as natural as possible.

After the birth of my son, my hair isn't quite the same as it once was, it's still curly but the strands are a lot finer. I would actually say I have quite thin hair now opposed to my full mane of course hair I had back in the day.

As a busy mom and trying to run out the door has its challenges. One of the things I've conquered is putting together an actual look that'll get me out the door in literally minutes! So here's how I style my quick, everyday hair with all natural ingredients.

WHAT YOU NEED:

Two of my beloved, holy grail, multi-use products have (yet another!) functioning purpose and I'm so excited to share this with you! Coconut oil and rosewater are all you need for this DIY (do it yourself).

STEP BY STEP:

Comb out hair as you naturally would. I prefer a wide toothed comb to detangle hair. You can spritz a bit of water on hair if you'd like your hair to reform it's natural shape and curl or you proceed with dry hair. I find that if I apply a water mist to my hair the products apply more evenly, yet you also don't want it to be fully damp, either.

Then, rub coconut oil between your palms to create an oil. I literally use a baby pea-sized amount and when I rub the coconut oil between my hands, there's just a sheen on my hands. So if I were to tip my hand over the other way, nothing would spill over (hope that makes sense?!).

I start at the ends (not the roots!) and work my way up. I scrunch my hair between my hands working towards the scalp to really activate the curl. I do this light-handedly so it doesn't form a tight spiral-like curl. Then, whatever product is left, I work around the front of the hairline and finally the crown area.

Next, I spritz, rosewater all over hair. Again, starting at the ends and working my way up. Holding the bottle at least 12 inches away from my head so I get a fine mist all over hair instead of a concentrated blob in one spot. The secret is using the other hand to shake out the hair while applying the rosewater mist. And that's it!

The end result is a boho chic, wavy hairstyle that's bouncy yet with a bit of structure. It's not perfect and that's what gives it that bohemian vibe, which is perfect for an understated, everyday casual look.

Bonus tip, you can also turn your head down and scrunch and shake up hair for extra volume at the roots!

So how does this combination work? Firstly, I have dry and curly hair my hair and skin can never seem to get enough moisture. Secondly, these all natural products work for me because they provide moisture but they also help define and hold the curl. The coconut oil helps add shine and defines the curl. The rosewater helps "set" it all in place all while adding a bit of moisture.

What I love about these ingredients are that you can leave them in your hair as they're both good-for-you ingredients, unlike traditional hair styling products. Also, they're both extremely affordable and easily accessible. You can pickup both for under $15 which is pretty much less than what it costs for a standard hair styling product that's full of chemicals.

I hope you enjoyed this DIY post and found it helpful.
