Q: What does makeup & beauty mean to you?
A: Makeup and fashion are just extensions of my identity. I'm not a brown haired girl who wears khakis. I'm a rainbow haired, walking kaleidoscope of color, glitter, and awesome. My makeup and beauty style reflect how I see myself. I'm not caught up in what other people think, what's fashionable, or what's acceptable.
Q: When did you start getting into makeup, beauty & fashion?
A: When I was a child, I thought I was a little fashionista; always playing dress up, designing my own clothes, and staunchly refusing to wear what I was told. As I grew up, I honed my style and explored outlets that felt more me, like gothic and visual kei styles. I was uber goth for years, but now I consider myself more executive goth since I've matured.
Q: What’s your first ever beauty product?
A: I barely remember but, I recall being super excited about those mood color change lipsticks that looked blue or green and went on pink. I actually wanted them to stay blue! I was so disappointed in them. Heh, now blue lipstick is one of my staples!
Q: What’s your favorite makeup brand and why?
A: Whatever works. I'm not a brand whore. I love everything from drugstore brands NYX and Milani to Mac and Kryolan or Ben Nye. I tend to use more face paint and professional theatrical makeup these days than fancy makeup.
Q: Name the one makeup product you cannot live without and why?
A: I am surprisingly in love with Cover Girl's 3 in 1 foundation. Apply it with a brush in small circles for a really porcelain finish that protects with sunscreen. I'm super fair, so it's important I have a product that can do it all.
Q: What’s your best makeup tip?
A: Practice. That a great tip for anything you want to get good at though. Go slow, don't get frustrated when you make a mess and end up looking like you were a raccoon in a fight. Just go with it and see if you can make yourself into a cyber goth raccoon!
Q: What’s the one thing your viewers don’t know about you?
A: My real birthday is Halloween.
Q: Do you have any special/hidden talents?
A: Lots! I weight lift, I used to own a bakery, I crochet, and I still professionally chef for special occasions. I like to think of myself as a Renaissance woman.. .except with more glitter and bad-a**-ery.
Q: Why/When did you start posting videos/blog?
A: My fiance has been the biggest encouragement for me to share my work. He gets the credit for it. He introduced me to face and body painting as a real art form. I'd been painting abstract acrylic paintings for years and I knew about body painting, but those worlds hadn't met for me. He brought my love of makeup and the art of face paint together.
Q: Who’s your biggest inspiration (YouTuber/blogger) and why?
A: This very moment, Minori is my biggest inspiration. I'm in love with her shironuri look. She's ghostly and ethereal. I find the history of white-face makeup fascination: from clowns to geisha.
